Summer 2009 – Our First Harvest!

Summer 2009 – Our First Harvest!

The garden has been growing by leaps and bounds !! We have already harvested our first vegetables for the food bank. All of the Personal Garden Plots are rented and the communal spaces are beginning to take shape. The Rose Labyrinth is in the design stage and promises to be a unique and wonderful place to walk, meditate and pray. It is amazing what has been accomplished in so short a time!

Congratulations to all of the volunteers and donors that helped make this vision a reality today. It takes a community like ours with passionate and dedicated individuals like all of you to create a garden while building relationships at the same time growing food for ourselves and our neighbors. Sustainability is very important in today’s world but building relationships is more important. The lettuce we harvested yesterday was beautiful, fresh and delicious and it filled up 2 produce boxes. The rest of the garden is growing by leaps and bounds and will surely produce even more beautiful veggies in the coming months. I am personally blown away by the progress we have all made in such a short time. We just broke ground on May 9th.

A fence, well water, raised beds, vegetables planted and growing, a website, lots of new friends with a wealth of knowledge, ideas, smiles and time to give. What more could you ask for?

God has truly blessed our community garden. My thanks and gratitude goes out to every one of you! Please drop by the garden if you have not seen it lately and also visit our website at: www.gardenbytheseaoceanshores.org for upcoming events, pictures, articles and ongoing projects.
